Artistic Interludes

One of the mom's in our co-op taught a photography class at the last session. This was one of Lily's photos.

The kids have been into baking lately. If I leave them unattended in the kitchen I am sure to walk in on some creation in progress. This was a chocolate cake--as I recall, the ingredients consisted of oatmeal, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, baking soda, salt, a mashed banana, and maybe an egg. I made a chocolate glaze to put on top.

This was today's "secret recipe pumpkin pie" made of 1 large can of purreed pumpkin, honey, and 2 eggs. The crust was flower, water, and salt.
How did it taste? Well, after two servings, Luke just came in and asked me if I would get him another piece "Please pretty Please Por Favor Por Favor S'il vous plait."
I guess he likes it!

Not many kids can say please 4 different ways like that. :) Good for him.

I love Lily's photo! How beautiful!

That is awesome that they are cooking like that - what a gift!

And their language skills are impressive too! LOL!

Great photo from Lily!

Sounds like your kids are starting to learn which foods mix well?

My kids (mostly Kaia so far) do that exact same thing...but their concoctions aren't in the least bit edible. :) They usually involve flour, baking soda, maybe some cinnamon, sprinkles, and food coloring!
